St. Brynach Church –  Tower and Bells Appeal

Please, please continue to help us finalise the restoration of this wonderful church for future generations to come.

Whilst the initial  project is now largely complete in that the old bells have been restored, retuned with 2 new bells plus additional donated old bells (one of which dates back to 1593) all being able to be rung, there still remains much additional work to stop (amongst other things) ingress of water into the tower.

We are therefore continuing to seek ways of raising money to conserve this highly important historic church so that the future of Nevern Church and its  bells can be secured for future generations.  To this end, with a full peal of 10 bells (plus 3 for the Ellacombe) and a Dumb bell for training we now aim to develop Nevern into a South and West Wales bell ringing training centre in the hope of encouraging youngsters to experience the pleasures of this form of art.

It costs us some £75per day just to cover our running costs without allowing for additional maintenance of the tower and bells.  So do please help this small community in any way you can by giving generously.

Fund Raising Tower & Bells Ball Event and Auction on 6 July

Over the past Year we have come a long way with grant applications , securing donations via our leaflets, Christmas Concert, Public Meeting at the Trewern Arms and of course the forming of our Bell Ringing Team.

Our first Fundraising event of 2019 was the Bowen Bell Ball held on July 6th which was attended by guests from far and wide, including Bishop Joanna.

The Bowen Bell Ball was organised by Jo Bowen whose family ancestry is strongly connected with St Brynach Church,  she is the last of the direct Bowen line and wanted to help us raise the  funds required to get the Bells ringing again.

During the Ball an Auction was held which together with a raffle raised some £20,000.

A wonderful evening was had by everyone and it was great to see so many people connected to the church coming together for this wonderful cause and enjoying each other’s company.

The Church is greatly indebted to Jo Bowen and her team of helpers for all their hard work in making this evening such a success.

Sunday 21st July at 5pm – St Brynach Church Nevern –  Scaramella Singers conducted by Alistair Auld

Early to Modern repertoire, SATB and Solo works

Once again many thanks to the Scaramella Singers who put on this wonderful performance to help with the raising of funds for the Nevern Church Tower & Bells project.

Reaching Out to the Community –

A special Hog Roast and Dance for the Local Community was organised at the Trewern Arms on 21st August to celebrate the support given to our fundraising project for the Tower and Bells.

Many thanks and appreciation are given to the organisers and auctioneer, the Trewern Arms for providing the venue, the live band ( Razor Bill) and Stuart who conducted the Pig Roast not forgetting all those who gave so generously to our fundraising project.

A wonderful fun night was had by all at which some 150 attended also raising just under £2,000.
