Reaching Out to the Community

One of the prime objectives of our small but dedicated congregation is to reach out and help (where needed) all those living in our Parish and further afield irrespective of race, colour or faith.  We are always trying to find new ways to do this and one such example of this is Bwd Brynach (monthly lunches – please click here for more details).

Invariably, some of this work involves fund-raising for good causes such as coffee mornings for Macmillan nurses (please click for more details), Open Gardens and Afternoon Teas in aid of Church Funds, etc.

Now and then something completely new comes along which we feel deserves the widest possible circulation and warrants a public meeting.  One such occasion followed the launch of the Restoration of our Church Tower and Bells Appeal which, apart from raising the profile of our Appeal, opened up a completely new avenue for involving the local community in a totally new healthy, enjoyable, and satisfying activity of our Church, namely, Bell Ringing.

Public Meeting Held at the Trewern Arms to Gain Community Support for Our Tower and Bells Appeal & to Enlist Bell Ringers – January 2019

An extremely well attended meeting was captivated by the Diocesan Bells expert Mr Ian Hastilow, who outlined our ambitious project.  Apart from gaining the support of the meeting he outlined the wonders of Bell Ringing as a hobby, he emphasised that it was a wonderful way of making new friends throughout the world.  It was suitable for all ages from 10 upwards and was an exhilarating workout giving gentle exercise for mind and body which burns calories, tones muscles and relieves stress.

Everyone present seemed to leave the meeting full of enthusiasm and with some 22 signing up to be trained as bell ringers!
